Tim Fennessy

Tim Fennessy is a distinguished legal professional with over four decades of experience in litigation, judicial service, and legal education. A graduate of Gonzaga University and Gonzaga University School of Law, he has built a career marked by leadership, integrity, and dedication to justice.

Most recently, he served as a Spokane County Superior Court Judge, holding key roles including Presiding Judge and Chief Criminal Judge. In these capacities, he managed complex civil and criminal dockets, presided over numerous jury and bench trials, and played an instrumental role in shaping case flow management. His leadership was recognized nationally, earning special acknowledgment from the National Center for State Courts.

Before his judicial appointment, Tim Fennessy had a successful career as a trial attorney, representing clients in high-stakes litigation, including personal injury, business disputes, construction defect claims, and eminent domain cases. He was a founding member and partner at multiple prominent law firms, advocating for individuals and businesses in both state and federal courts.

An active member of the legal community, he has contributed to judicial education, serving on the Superior Court Judges Association Education Committee and moderating continuing legal education (CLE) seminars. He has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” and named among Spokane’s Best Lawyers for several years. His commitment to mentorship and legal education is reflected in his longtime involvement with Gonzaga University School of Law’s Board of Advisors and Alumni Association.

Beyond the courtroom, Tim is known for his strategic problem-solving, ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively, and dedication to the fair administration of justice. His career stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to the law and the community he serves.
